European Tours n Travel - a Sneek Preview

Hi ! Its a pleasure writing a post after such a long time !

Brought to you by http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/

From the lifestyle blog

Along with the hectic daily lifes of the people, comes this holiday season at the the end of this year. Enjoying these holidays with your family will be a fun, wont it be ? Spending holidays in South Eastern Asian nations may be cheap, but isn't as fun as spending a good holiday in Europe would be. Even in Europe, countries like France, Austria, Spain ,etc would be the best to have a holiday at!

Here are a few links that made me draw to the conclusion that there is no good holiday destination like Europe.

Spain attractions: Tappas, bullfighting, architecture. For more info see www.in-spain.info/top20/20-things-to-do-in-spain.htm
hoteles en espaƱa

Barcelona attractions: La Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's architecture ,Zoo in Parc Ciutadella.

Paris: Louvre, Eiffel tower, Notre Dame.
For more info see http://www.francethisway.com/regions/parisiledefrance.phphoteles en paris

These links which i checked out even made me go on a good holiday(but i cant bcuz of my hectic engineering scedule) !

But the biggest problem in spending a good holiday there is lodging .
People usually complain of the expensive lodging that they have to pay out.
For that, http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/ has brought special packages for people who aren't goin because of financial crunches. The site is a sure try for people who want to enjoy holidays in these great places at surprisingly low prices.

Nokia's call to change BL-5C Worries Users

Nokia, on the 15th August, announced that a specific model of battery ie BL-5C,the ones which were manufactured in Japan, had a few flaws, and it was observed that these batteries have had a potential of exploding , especially when being charged.
This battery BL-5C is manufactured in China and Japan , and around 32models of Nokia including a few from the newest E series do use this battery.

All this created a chaos for people. The company had promised to replace it free of charge, but when consumers went to change, the situation wasn't clear as of who opr where will the batteries change.
In amidst all these problems and confusion, the biggest loser comes out to be the consumer.

Consumers have been adviced by Nokia to visit www.nokia.com/batteryreplacement/en/ for furthur instructions

and you have to give this email id to your girlfriend and your mom. But you want to impress your girl. So here's the trick. Google supports adding on prefixes, followed by a '+' sign.

Now ou can give your girl

only4yadarlin+heman123@gmail.com

And for parents, you can give

mamaskid+heman123@gmail.com

!!

And know what, they all will land up in your id heman123@gmail.com.

Isn't that cool !

So what you waitin for, start giving people a new email id everytime ;)

Now Download Data at a higher speed with the same internet connection

Today, Fastsoft corporation - a company known for its dedication for speeding up the online communication has introduced a new product - Aria 1000 which speeds up the transfer of any large file over the Internet, without requiring hardware or software on the receiving end. As claimed by the company officials, a 700-megabyte movie file that takes 50 minutes to download regionally via a cable-modem connection can be downloaded in 34 minutes if the sender uses Aria.

If this is true, then it'll be a boon for the slowing up net and the latest web 2.0 demands !!
What i've got to know from the other sites on the net is that Aria is based on the research works of California Institute of Technology also known as Caltech and is based on the concept of utilising the complete bandwidth available to the sender.

The biggest advantage is that it does not need to be installed at the reciever's computer.Only the sender computer needs it to be installed. Thus this allows companies to transfer files over the internet without letting recievers know that they are using it.

During academic trials, Aria which uses FastTCP algorithm, achieved sustained peak speeds upto 101Gb/S - something very intresting to observe.

On July 30, FastSoft will announce its next commercial product in the Aria line: the Aria 2000, which the company says can accelerate throughput to up to one gigabit per second. Pricing for Aria appliances starts at $10,000 and goes up to more than $200,000, depending on model and configuration.

Online Desktops - A review

I've been hearing people using pirated windows(and even some some top notch officials of the Indian Railways using it). The reason was only one'- very high licensing fees. Even after thar, the licensing fees made people resist legal stuff.

Looking at this problem , companies have started to make Windows similar desktops, but the biggest part, you dont have to install them. You just need any operating system(whether open source or legalised stuff) and a browser(preferably firefox, as most of the sites who develop such applications are using Firefox as their base for operating), and a quite fast Internet connectin(atleast actual 256kbps)for fine working of the application.

Basically, they do create applications which run from the web, use flash as a medium of display if animation, and work just like real desktops. This is wonderful for people who can afford only open source OS's and need nice multi-user operations for privacy.

To start with, i'll review three such online desktops which are popular nowadays. These are Ajax Windows(www.ajaxwindows.com), Nivio(www.nivio.com), Desktop On Demand(www.desktopondemand.com) and My Lgd(www.mylgd.com).

Right now, i'll be reviewing only My Lgd , as i have not been alloted an account with the others.

When i opened the My Lgd website, it akked me for an ID and an Password. I just typed some crap there and click icked on login tab. This then routed to a page where i was given an option to log in as a guest, which i wanted. I then entered and saw a moth like thing(which was representing processing). I then went to; check out the features in the desktop. Like any windows desktop, it has a music player witha plylist,; a calculator, a graphics viewer(which takes hell of time and emory to open and opens images with bad quality...........or my slo;w net does everything wrong). It also has a calculator , a notepad for typing all things, folders(for storing your personal files), a file browser, an few small games, a software manager, an email client,a special and a RSS blog reader.

Well, all i can say is that this is a nice looking site, works well, needs no hefty hardware but just a quick net connection .

If you need a good and cheap alternative to Windows with a pinch of Open cource and dont want to do any changes to your present computer, then juse this.

Any comments or experiences welcomed.

Quick Review - E90

Hi !!

I had been hearing about E90 for sometime so i decided to do a review of E90 - which feel is The next gen of communicator .

Starting with the Phone's basic features, it supports HSDPA,GSM 850/900/1800/1900 , clearly showing that Nokia is desperate to get hold of the American market.

It comes in Red,Mocha, Black and Silver colours,

It has the dimensions of 132 x 57 x 20 mm, volume of 140cc and 210g as weight, clearly reflecting that it is indeed bulky - a common feature with business SmartPhones.

It's screen type is a 16 million colors supporting 800 x 352 pixels primary screen.
It's secondry external screen has a 16M colors display with 240 x 320 pixel.

It has a full fleged QUERTY keyboard, something needed in business class phones.

It runs on Symbian OS v9.2 and S60 rel. 3.1, so u can easily download and install all sorts of softwares and games on the phone(the feature i like the most).

It has 64 built in polyphonic ringtones and also allows MP3 to be set as ringtones.

It also sports a vibrator(which was missing in phones like N90 ).

It supposrts Bluetooth,Wi-fi,IR,USB,3G,EDGE and GPRS.

Apart from regular Symbian features, it has a PTT, inbuilt photo editor, and supports video calling.

And know what, it has GPS too, so that you would like to Sahara for camping without the fear of getting lost.

In the end,it has a standard Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery which gives you up to 330 h of standby time and up to 5 h of talktime(as claimed by Nokia).

Seems good for me !

The price is varying at places but is around 550-600Euros (as seen in various sites).

Well, that wrapps up the review.

Please inform me your experiences, sugugestions and comments, if u have anything to share!!

Will see you Later

Activate iPhone without iTunes or 2year AT&T Contract !!

Lets See now !!!

Wht would b more preferable - iPod or iPhone !!!

For me , it's iPhone!!

Reason - works as gud as ipod !!

Confused !!!

Read on !

If u notice , iPhone has a touchpad, so if u try out a few tricks, iPhone wil act like as v3.0 of iPod,

Lech Johansen (aka DVD Jon), who became world-famous after writing a DVD copying software, has published a hack to activate the iPhone without iTunes or the two year voice and data contract from AT&T.

Here is wht i found in the book's sample copy

Add "127.0.0.1 albert.apple.com" to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Download iPhone Activation Server to activate your iPhone for iPod+WiFi use.

Once the process is over, you will be able to use iPhone as a music player, email machine, view and donload youtube videos, use internet enabled on Wi-Fi and more. But the sad part, no calls :(( .

Well, u can still enjoy all those features for free now !

iPhone becomes a rockstar, has people waitin for it 'at night in the rain' !!!

Looks like the cellphone market is on the rocks. The source of the shake - Apple.

After it's pathbreaking iPod, Apple comes out with the much hyped iPhone(Gates, looks like you're windows mobile OS is in danger) !

The quad-bandphone has a 3.5in (9cm) touch screen, wi-fi, no keyboard, a camera and a web browser on board. It is also intended to be used as a media player to listen to music and watch video uploaded to it via iTunes.
The iPhone comes in two versions - 2Gb and 4Gb. the company(in order to stop blackmarketing) had decvided to allow each customer to buy only twi iPhones at a time(hope the Indian goverment learns something from it) !

would give eight hours of talktime, six hours of net use or seven hours of video watching.

Early reviews of the iPhone have been broadly positive but those who have played around with it said touch screen typing took some getting used to and data download speeds were very slow.

The handset has also been criticised because it does not use the 3G network, does not support instant messaging or voice-activated dialling and does not let people choose ringtones beyond the 25 pre-installed on it.

Well, it's damn clear that iPhone will have a great competition from rval company Nokia, with it's typical Symbian OS fans(Well, i'm a die hard symbian OS fan and guess what , i won't shift to any other phone unless it has something much betta than the Symbian has for giving).

The device costs either $499 or $599 and buyers must also commit to a two-year contract with AT&T in US that will cost them a minimum of $59.99 per month.

All those who buy the iPhone must activate it via iTunes, so no-one was able to call from their new handset as they left the Apple store(something i knew much before, but wasn't very sure about it).

I found on sites quoting the people who boughtit saying "It's a masterpiece of craftsmanship, polished aluminium - the weight and size, it just feels great. You like it from the first minute you touch it.".

The iPhone will be available in Europe later in 2007 and Asia in 2008.

Mosquito Tone

Nowadays, youngsters are more privacy consious. They dont want their parents getting into reading their text messages and stuff. For them i have brought Mosquito tone - a ringtone which only youngsters can hear, not the seniors.

For details, check out my Lifestyle Blog

A new way of opening sites

I was browsing through the Opera site today and guess what i found - something as interesting as Pam Anderson's life - Opera specially made for bypassing blocked sites.

There are many nations in the world which do not allow certain sites to open. For example, Flickr is banned in Iran & UAE, BBC & Wikipedia are blocked in China, Blogspot blogs are banned in Pakistan, YouTube & Photobucket are prohibited for US army overseas while social sites like Bebo, MySpace or Facebook may be banned in your office. Even during the anti-reservation protest days, youth for equality's site was banned.

Some schools(like ours) do block sites [ for example, all share trading and finance journal sites were banned cuz one of the teachers at our school used to do share trading throughout the day) !!

So coming back, there are atleast a dozen wats to access blocked sites, but most of them are cucumbersone. Opera provides a free online tool called Opera Mini Simulator that emulates the Opera mobile phone browser on your desktop computer. The tool is done in java and is quite popular among web designers for testing website layouts on mobile phone devices without actually using a mobile phone.

As you probably guessed it by now, this Opera Browser Simulator can also be used for accessing web pages that may be blocked on your computer. Since the requests are made via the Opera.com website, they would easily bypass the local filtering.

To open any site in Opera, just append that site address to the following URL and start browsing.

I'll give you a sample.

http://www.operamini.com/demo/?url=[URL] - example

The Opera Simulator can even be used for secure sites that require cookies - for instance, you can check your Hotmail emails via Opera. Though you are restricted to the tiny 200x200 screen of Opera simulator, it's still a very handy tool.

Opera recently launched version 4 of the Mini simulator that offers a better browsing experience than the previous version. You can access v4.0 of Mini simulator by clicking here.

As an alternative, you can also use the panel i have provided on the right hand side for browsing blocked sites.

Till then

Quick Review - Safari

After all the hyped Safari came for grabs on Windows, i couldn't resist ! You're usin what Mac users get . So i tried it.

I categorised it's ability by viewing the following types of pages

Heavily animated pages
Long text pages
Page load time for RSS authentication(which google uses for it's partner sites)
Availability of features(like Phishing checker)

So lets start.

I tried to open this blog from all the Three browsers i had - Opera,Microsoft Internet Explorer, And Safari.

Opera worked the best, even it was slow but it opened without any hassles.
Internet Explorer just opened it and then started to slow my PC.
Safari just hanged my pc, i had to end the task to get over it.

Now i opened Myspace.

It loaded slowly in all the browsers, as it had a good set of multimedia content.
Except Safari.

Yes, Safari opened it without even slowing the PC. It although slowly loaded the multimedias content, but still worked well.

Then i signed into my Orkut , Gmail and my blog's setup.

Again Safari opened it quicker than any othier browser, with Opera being the slowest, even though it allpwed to browse the page while loading which none other does.

After that, i checked it's features. Dissappointing to see, Safari didn't have a password manager , nor an accounts manager, which all other browsers have. This makes us net addicts difficult to use.
Also Safari doesn't have a phishing filter, even though Phishing has become a widespread nuisance nowadays) !!

I dont get how did Apple forget to add all these features .

Overall , Safari is a nice browser but nee ds a hell of improvement to be ready for final release in the market.

One thing i found out was that, in order to load pages quicker, Safari uses a hell of memory(see the screenshots where the task manager is seen), so anyone with non-ideal hardware requirement for your windows(especially when ram is less than required), then don't prefer it for regular sites !

Well, i'm off now !!

Leave your comments , if you have something to share !

Apple gives Microsoft a "Safari" of problems !!!

In order to edge out Microsoft, rival Apple known for it's phones, desktops and music players has launched Safari - it's web browser for MAC in Windows edition.

Yes you heard it right, now you can use Safari at your Windows desktop !!

When i had heard this, i felt that this might be a joke but then reviews on ZD and later the press release on Apple's site dmade be believe.

I couldn't believe that Apple - famous for it's ground breakin whacky ideas could do such(At least i thought so because when iPhone was released, Steve Jobs has said that he plans to emphasise furthur on Hardware market.

At the moment, only the Beta version of Safari for Windows is available.

I expect it's full final version to be available till the end of September.

I've downloaded Safari and will soon give you a review on my experience with it !!

Eyestrain - Symptoms and Precautionary Measures !!

Here i now introduce health in my tech blog. Basically i had a good amount of eyestrain since i started blogging . So i decided to get some tips for me. Now i'm sharing these tips with all ya internet or pc or game addicts.

Now Lets Start !

Although not associated with long-term consequences, eyestrain resulting from computer use can be bothersome and uncomfortable — and may cut your work short. Minimize computer-related eyestrain by following these tips.

Your eyes hurt. Your head aches. And there you sit, peering at your computer monitor. If you're one of the many people who use computers every day — either for work or personal use — you may experience eyestrain as a result.
Eyestrain: Signs and symptoms

Common signs and symptoms include:
Sore, tired, burning or itching eyes
Watery eyes
Dry eyes
Blurred or double vision
Headache and sore neck
Difficulty shifting focus between monitor and paper documents in your work area
Color fringes or afterimages when you look away from the monitor
Increased sensitivity to light

Eyestrain associated with computer use isn't thought to have serious or long-term consequences, but it's disruptive and unpleasant. Though you may not be able to change the nature of your job or all the factors that can cause eyestrain, you can take steps to reduce the strain.
New habits can help relieve eyestrain

A few simple adjustments in how you work or surf the Internet can give your eyes a much-needed rest.

Follow these simple tips to reduce eyestrain:
Take eye breaks. Throughout the day, give your eyes a break by forcing them to focus on something other than on your screen. Try the following exercise: Hold a finger a few inches in front of your face; focus on the finger as you slowly move it away; focus on something far in the distance and then back to the finger; slowly bring the finger back toward your face. Next, shift your focus to something farther than eight feet away and hold your eyes there for a few seconds. Repeat this exercise three times, several times a day.
Change the pace. Try to stand up and move around at least once every hour or so. If possible, lean back and close your eyes for a few moments. At the very least, try to give yourself a five-minute rest every hour. Do other work, such as phone calls or filing, during this time.
Blink often to refresh your eyes. Because many people blink less than normal when working at a computer, dry eyes can result from prolonged computer use. Blinking produces tears that can help moisten and lubricate your eyes. Make a conscious effort to blink more often.
Consider using artificial teardrops. Available over the counter, artificial tears can help relieve dry eyes that result from prolonged sessions at the computer.
Practice relaxation. Ease muscle tension with this relaxation exercise: Place your elbows on your desk, palms facing up; let your weight fall forward and your head fall into your hands; position your head so that your eyebrows rest on the base of your palms, with your fingers extended toward your forehead; close your eyes and take a deep breath through your nose; hold it for four seconds, then exhale. Continue this deep breathing for 15 to 30 seconds. Perform this simple exercise several times a day.
Get appropriate eyewear. If you wear glasses or contacts, make sure the correction is right for computer work. Most lenses are fitted for reading print and may not be optimal for computer work. Glasses or contact lenses designed specifically for computer work may be a worthwhile investment.

Till Then , Happy Surfing

Nokia Announces 6500 Classic and Slide

Nokia 6500 Classic

Nokia 6500 Slide

Nokia on the 1st of June announced two new handsets, the Nokia 6500 classic and Nokia 6500 slide. Along with third generation WCDMA technology and contemporary designs, these new devices are aimed at driving the benefits of third generation technology to the mid-range market.

"With the Nokia 6500 classic and Nokia 6500 slide, Nokia is combining these areas of expertise to deliver a compelling blend of design and technology at a mid-range price point," said Peter Ropke, Senior Vice President, Broad Appeal Business Unit, Nokia.

"While features like the aluminum "loop" structure of the Nokia 6500 classic or the Carl Zeiss optics found in the Nokia 6500 slide separate these devices from the pack, it is the balance of features and style that will make them irresistible to customers", said Ropke.

Crafted from 360 degrees of anodized aluminum, the Nokia 6500 classic is 9.5mm thin. According to Nokia, each Nokia 6500 classic is individually polished, ensuring that no two phones are exactly alike, while diamond polishing used on the beveled display aperture and cold stamped logo demonstrate the highest levels of craftsmanship.

Featuring dual band 3G technology and quad-band GSM for worldwide roaming, the Nokia 6500 classic also features a full 1 GB of internal memory. It is equipped with the Series 40 interface, includes a 2 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and an integrated music player. Furthermore, a unified micro-USB connector simplifies charging, audio and data connectivity by consolidating them into a single compact port. This allows for the Nokia 6500 classic to be easily used as a high-capacity flash drive or to be charged directly from a laptop computer - all with one cable.

The Nokia 6500 classic is expected to be available in India after the 3rd quarter of 2007.

The Nokia 6500 features a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and the addition of autofocus, a dual LED flash and 8x digital zoom. It also uses 3G technology. The TV-out jack will allow users to be instantly viewed on any television with standard RCA inputs. The TV-out feature can also be used for video calling.

It's equipped with a hard coating that helps to prevent scuffs, scratches, and even fingerprints.

The Nokia 6500 slide is expected to be available during the 3rd quarter of 2007.

Microsoft claims Zune has sold a million copies !!!!!

President of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices Division, Robbie Bach told the San Francisco Chronicle it has already passed the million mark, and Zune now has a 10 percent market share in the hard-disk-based music player category.

However, Zune, which was touted to be the iPod killer has not lived up to the expectations, when considering the fact that Apple in Q4 of last year alone sold 14 million iPods.

Bach also spoke about the much hyped iPhone by key competitor, Apple, saying it will be a very interesting product but it will have its trade-offs. He said that the product will be expensive but then again, it will attract its level of attention from Apple enthusiasts. He also added that the iPhone hasn't changed any of Microsoft’s fundamental approaches to that marketplace.

Coming back to Zune, Bach seemed excited about the watermelon-colored Zune, expected to be a hit with kids. He pointed to further developments in Zune, which will allow users to perform more wireless functions and that Microsoft will "expand in that space, a little bit more from the social aspects of connecting people together, a little more than just a store."

But there's still no clue when will Microsoft officially release Zune in India !!!!

Till then , keep waiting 4 it

Product Review : Motorola ROKR E6

I came across this new Motorola phone , which is just launched in India. So i decided to write a review for this.

I've categorised the pros and cons for this phone to make things simple and clear for you.
Now lets start

The Pro's :

The Motorola Slvr L6 has a slim, sexy design, Bluetooth, and quality performance.

The Con's :

The Motorola Slvr L6 has a low-resolution display and a poorly designed keypad. It also suffers from blurry picture quality and an average speakerphone. Plus, Cingular has deactivated some important features.

Design of Motorola Slvr L6 :

There's no escaping it--the Motorola Slvr L6 is all about design. Though it largely resembles the L7 in shape, it's marginally shorter and slimmer than its sibling, making it the skinniest handset we've reviewed thus far (4.4 by 1.9 by 0.43 inches). At 3.3 ounces, it also weighs slightly less than the L7, so you should have no trouble slipping it in a pocket or a bag. Keep in mind, however, that the small size has its drawbacks. It's difficult to feel the phone vibrate when it's in your pocket, and it can be uncomfortable to hold the phone against your ear for long periods of time. The construction seemed mostly solid--we tried dropping the phone a few times--but as with the Razr, we're worried about long-term durability.

We were disappointed that Motorola chose to downgrade the L6's display from 262,000 colors on the L7 to 65,536 colors, or 128x160 pixels. Though it's large enough (1.75 inches diagonally), the difference in resolution on the display is clearly noticeable. Graphics had a washed-out effect, so the screen isn't the best for viewing photos, browsing the Web, or playing games. It was fine, however, for scrolling through the standard Motorola menus. You can change the backlighting time and the brightness, but you can't alter the contrast or the font size. Also, be warned that the glossy display shows finger smudges easily.

The final verdict :

The Motorola ROKR E6 is priced at Rs 17000 MRP. It's a high price when compared that Nokia's E-Series comes for just Rs 1000-2000 more but you get 10 times more advantageson being on Nokia. However, if you can get it at a bargain price from the retailers like Subhiksha or anywhere else, the Motorola Slvr L6 is a solid option for users who want a functional phone with sexy looks, but true phone fanatics will be disappointed.
When its slim Razr flip phone rocketed to popularity last year, Motorola knew it was on to something, so it's not surprise the company went to work on a candy bar version soon after. But rather than be satisfied with just one Slvr, as the resulting model came to be known, Motorola designed three that spanned the mobile spectrum. Cingular first introduced the higher-end model, the iTunes-equipped Motorola Slvr L7, in February in the US, and it quickly became as popular as the Razr. And now Cingular rolls out the midtier version of the phone, the Slvr L6 (the low-tier Slvr L2 is a Cingular phone as well). Equally skinny but bearing a different coat and an improved Web browser, the L6 keeps the Bluetooth support, the speakerphone, and the VGA camera found in its sibling but ditches the iTunes compatibility, the MP3 player, and the TransFlash card slot. Also, while the phone is capable of supporting push-to-talk (PTT) services, Cingular has not activated the L6 for its PTT network. Overall, the L6 is an attractive and handy cell phone, but we weren't impressed by the keypad design, the low-resolution screen, and the blurry photo quality.

My Personal Verdict :

Avoid this phone if you're a power user like me !!!
Users considering style may consider this phone in their options  !

Dell shocks everyone, gives DELL+LINUX combo

Computer giant Dell made big news on the 24th of this month when it began shipping desktops and laptops pre-installed with Ubuntu, a popular Linux distribution. I'm not sure who the heck is going to buy a Linux Dell, but it certainly marks a sea change in retail computing. In terms of prepackaged operating systems, users have basically been stuck for a long time with the solitary choice of Windows vs. Mac. The fact that consumers can now purchase a Linux machine with support from the distributor certainly validates the open-source movement and Ubuntu in particular.

Yet if you're curious about Linux or Ubuntu, it hasn't been very simple to install it on your Windows machine. Up until recently, the process has usually involved partitioning your hard drive for the Linux install and creating a boot CD from a downloaded ISO file.

Only one problem :

Who the hell is gonna buy a heavily priced pc with a free OS havin no gr8 utilities!!!!

Youtube melts down, gives up to US Federal Agencies on abusive profiles

In a crackdown, Youtube has agreed to US Federal authoities to give the details of the profiles of the users who were using the sexually abusing profiles of the chilren. Previously youtube was not allowing the US Agencies to allow this data.

And here in India, a customer care executive asks your data for confirmation and sells it @ Rs 10/person
!!!

Looks like youtube's administration doesn't have Indians !!!

India Today's college review gets messed up, Considers DCE's and NSIT's admission process seperate

Although NSIT is in top 20, here is proof the rankings are inaccurate and at-best cooked up.

EXTRACTS FROM THE INDIA TODAY MAGAZINE

Individual Admission Process -
DCE Rank - 19
NSIT Rank - 24

NSIT and DCE have exactly the same admission process, and toppers choose NSIT over DCE every year.

Curriculum

NSIT Rank 23
DCE Rank 10

LOL, both NSIT and DCE follow same syllabus and curriculum prescribed by the Delhi University, not even a single molecule is different :P , the end semester exam is also same.

Just tells you that people hear DCE's name and assume its good, while NSIT which is much better and attracts the cream of Delhi does not get good ranks just because its not old enough or famous enough.

Looks like Mr Suri's team has gone old and isn't updated with the present!!!
Even till now, it's row with BITS, Pilani which had started last year hasn't ended and now the magazines show some classic examples of ignorant and clumsy reporting.

Mr Suri, do me a favour and bring some new staff, will you !!!

Eten Shows it's capability, brings Glofish X800

I just have heard that in March at CEBIT at Germany, Eten has announced it's latest product - the ETEN GLOFISH X800 - The company's first 3G phone!

Let's start with what E-Ten's latest Glofiish -- the X800 -- doesn't have: a QWERTY keyboard. Otherwise, it's packed to the, uh, gills. We're talking Windows Mobile 6, large VGA display, HSDPA/WCDMA like we heard, GPS, WiFi, quad-band GSM (like the X500, we presume), Bluetooth, and a 2 megapixel camera on the back with a second up front for video calls. Hell, it even sports a Skype client which may or may not be in the final product as they "work out the final details." All this without any noticeable increase in size from the already svelt X500. Expected to hit in developed markets(which doesn't include India)globally before summer is done with an MSRP somewhere between $850 and $900.

I suppose it'll be here only if some dealer ties up with Eten to stop Nokia in India!

Motorola Stuns Again, Unviels Next Gen Razr's

Just as i heard Moto was releasing next gen series of The style king RAZR series, i was sure that it would also become a rage and you'll also agree that i will be correct.

Now Lets Start

The Motorola RAZR2 comes in two versions - the first one is the Motorola RAZR2 V8 which has quad-band GSM/EDGE network support, while the second one is the Motorola RAZR2 V9 which is a quad-band GSM/EDGE/3G/HSDPA-enabled device. Other than that, feature-wise and design-wise the two are almost identical.

The Motorola RAZR2 comes equipped with a main 2.2" 262K color TFT display with a QVGA (320x240 pixels) resolution plus a really large secondary 2" 262K color TFT display with a QVGA resolution too. It would practically mean that there would be no difference between using any of the two. What is more, Motorola are promising a handy messaging function that would allow user to compose and send messages without even opening the clamshell.

Design-wise, the RAZR2 has received an enormous facelift in both looks and style. It is thinner than every previous RAZR model and it has a new flushed-out metallic design with some hardened glass to protect all those square inches of displays that it offers.

The Motorola RAZR2 will have full support for stereo Bluetooth, it will have a microUSB slot for data connections and attaching headphones (makes us sorry for losing the standard miniUSB) and would certainly appeal with its 2 megapixel camera, which unfortunately doesn't feature autofocus.

Both versions will have external touch-sensitive music keys, plus high-quality MPEG 4 video capture and playback and speaker independent voice dialing. The touch sensitive keys are in fact part of the external display which means that it's part touch-sensitive. Furthermore the keys come with a clever feedback (haptics) technology. The handset produces slight vibrations every time a touch-sensitive key is pressed. Both devices are powered by an ARM 11 processor which makes them faster than any of the previous RAZR models.

All that being said, it must be pointed out that the two handset versions have certain differences. The Motorola RAZR2 V8 boasts a new Linux/Java user interface and will be sold in two variants - one with 420MB of memory available to the user, and a second one with 2GB of memory available to the user. Obviously, it won't have a memory cards slot. On the other hand the Motorola RAZR2 V9 retains the original Motorola Synergy UI and has only 45MB of memory but has a microSD memory card slot.

Now here sre some shots of these beauties!!!

Looks like i'm correct again !!!!

Halo 2's Release gets a setback, delayed on charges of partial nudity

Halo 2, Bungie’s much loved shooter that was all set to enthrall PC owners has unfortunately been delayed by a couple of weeks but did you know that the game was delayed not because of technical issues, but because of... b**bies.
And here’s what a Microsoft rep told site next-gen.biz for this , "It has come to our attention that an unfortunate, obscure content error which includes partial nudity was included in our initial production of Halo 2 for Windows Vista. As such, we have updated the initial game packaging at retailers with a label, so customers are aware before purchasing the game. Additionally, we've developed an online update which can be downloaded from www.halo2.com to remove the content."

In case you're the one who observes this loop, just visit microsoft's site and download the patch microsoft just posted. I would have showed you the patch's link but unfortunately, microsoft's search systems still suck - even for their own site!!!

The New Spanish Orkut Virus! ~Now OrKuTtIn AiNt SaFe AnYmOrE~

Orkut has changed the lives of people, usually only geeks would roam the internet searching for whatever found their fancy. Now the scene has changed, everyone seems to be orkutting and feeling on top of the world for the same reason.

But recently a bug/virus/spyware seems to have hit orkut, people who get infected complain that testimonials and scraps are sent automatically from their accounts to all their contacts. The virus is clever, excluding the http part of the URLs with the viruses so orkut does not ask for captcha verification which is usually asked for whenever a URL is posted onto Orkut.

Messages such as these are best avoided and deleted ASAP.
