Pollution Menance......

Hello
Ever since the last time i posted on this blog, i've been sick. I had continuous fever for days, and have become terribly weak. And the culprits are fluorinated water and noise (or what scientists and environmenalists know as water and sound pollution). When i consulted the doctor, even he was confused so as why all this was happening. All the broad specrum antibiotics he was giving were not quite effective. The only relieving thing was paracetamol. This bad was my condition.

When i look it as a whole scene, i wonder how people live in such horrid situations. Potable drinking water is a huge problem in Asia and Africa. Space, shelter, food and basic ammenities have become a huge challange for mankind. Noise pollution has increased to a never-before situation. And the core reason behind all these problems is population. I wonder do those who have more than two children have any brains or not? I dont think so. The desire to have a child of specific gender is one of the most foolish thoughts i've ever heard of. Masses in the stated continents who remain Below Poverty Line(or BPL) have atleast 4-5 siblings. I dont understand how do they produce so many children, even when they dont get enough to live well. The reproductive ability of the female of such classes should be eradicated after a second offspring is born in that family, and goverments should be acting to bring in such legislations. Any carelessness by the employees in the health departments should be punished badly. It even amazes me how people in these nations ignore their useless, corrupt, ineffective administration, which they themselves choose, and curse Mr Bush, who actually took a load off the planet by eliminating the world's most dangerous individuals, who had nothing to do but to destroy the world. He actually "Destroyed" and "Wiped Off" any potential threat to American security, and undertook harsh decisions to increase job demands to remove joblessness in his home nation. Thats what i find to be the virtue of a great leader. No matter how much people celebrate, how much they dance, they drink and be merry on election of Obama(who does look promising), i still support Bush, nomatter what they call him.

Decades back we were suffering from these problems. Musicians like Phil Colins had taken it up back then, and recently Linkin Park had taken up this issue in their last album, Bono and U2 has been promoting eco-ism all these decades, but seems like even then the world hasnt learned at all. They've carelessly boozed and fagged their way to a horrible situation. Being in the economy termed as fastest growing till sometime back, having the second largest population, the seventh largest area in the world, and the most polluted point on the planet, i dont understand how does the crowd here tolerates all this crap, i simply cannot. I've recently took a pledge for the environment to protect it, and would like all of you reading this to do so.

What else can we do to stop all this menance?? Hope you have some new ideas to share.

Phone Review - Nokia 7210 Supernova

Hi
Recently, i had to buy a new cellphone. So i decided to go to a nearby cellphone retailing joint outlet, and asked for some good new handsets. First he showed some known ones, but then he introduced a newly launched handset - Nokia 7210 Supernova(Or 7210c as the product id states).
The phone reminds me of Nokia's new 5210 XpressMusic. Its just the same, only the dedicated music buttons are missing. It has a 2MP camera, which gives quite decent images, when viewed from the computer.

The sound of the handset is good, almost as good as the Xpressmusic ones. Both the speakers and handsfree provided good output, with the speakers lagging behind. Although the sound is nice, those who love high bass would be certainly disappointed a bit,as the bass is not upto the mark- the reasons for it known only to nokia guys. The phone's S40 Interface also keeps working well.

The phone gives a stated 280 hours standby and 5and a half hours talktime, which is overstated when seen in practically, even though the battery bundled is BL-4CT. Using the multimedia capabilities literally 'drink every drop' of the battery charge, so carrying a charger or a backup battery when going on long journeys is a must. Thats one point Nokia has to work onto. The phone is quite slim and comes with nice shiny handsfree headset, although a MicroSD Card(which it uses for secondry storage) and Data Cable is missing, while some other handsets in this segment have it,dont know what do the Nokia guys have in their mind.

Priced at Rs6200(Or simply around 150US$), the phone is a good buy, looking it as a whole.

Kinux for you - Ubuntu

I recieved my free Ubuntu v8.10's free cd by general mail at my place. Being sick, having not much to do, i decided to try out Ubuntu. I've installed it on my hard drive, but havent tried it out yet. I find it to be one of the best Linux OS, looking at the fact that it requires only 4GB for a basic installation, and can be easily installed and uninstalled from Windows, and can be installed without modifying windows partition(thats one feature thats got my vote). And the free home delivery in 15 days is the best way to obtain it on a cd or a dvd(yup, you can get it for free at your doorstep , just log onto ubuntu.com and follow the instructions).

What else do you want, a free virus free Operating system, easy to use and easy to install and uninstall.
What do you think about it ??

screwed with satyam......a thought

7/1/2009
New year in India starts with a shock. The Satyam CEO admits to misdepiction of his company's financial position to a tune of Rs 6000 Crores (or roughly around US $15 Million ) directly and net to a tune of Rs 17000 crore. The whole director board , all the auditors, and the chief financial officer is taken into police custody. The Indian Government steps in and forms a new directorial panel to keep running the company.
But what about the investor.
I've been keenly interested in the ever growing IT sector in India. Satyam was the biggest player in the IT market throughout the world, looking at the fact that it has 184 of the fortune 500 companies as its clients. Other clients include FIFA,and the UN. It employs more than 52000 employees throughout the world.
So should we divert our focus to some other player, or stick with Satyam. I firmly believe that we should keep sticking to Satyam, looking at the fact that if the declaration hadnt been done, Satyam would have continued well. Afterall, the management were responsble for the decisions, but the company was based on its performance, and the performance was due to their employees. The employees still remain the same. The brains working behind the computers are still the same. Still should there be any doubts regarding the company, i dont think so. There's no need to panic.

Do you think the same?? Drop in your comments.

Movie Review - Ghajini

It feels good to be writing back after a long long time.
After a long time, to relax, i decided to catch up with Aamir Khan's new offering, the highly anticipated Ghajini.
And he didnt disappointed me at all. His acting in the movie is marvellous. Although the movie does show some stints which depict its south Indian director's roots, so does the lyrics. The movie depicts how the main lead 'Sanjay Singhania' tries to get out of his peculiar 'short term memory loss' and kills the main negetive 'ghajini dharmatma' for all the damage he does to the latter. Although Jiah Khan tries to do her best for the small part she does, she manages to do justice to her role. Newcomer 'Asin' does good to her lead female part, which mainly consisted of being nice and stupid(bore....half the movies have the same lead.....give us some change).
Aamir Khan just dominates throughout the movie. The director A.G.Ramadoss somehow manages to make the movie goood in the end, despite the weak initial minutes of the movie(which made me think twice over my decision to watch the movie). The first half of the movie is quite clumsy for mature cinema, but the second half compensates it. Both the halves of the movie have same number of tracks. The second half gets my thumbs up. Overall, i'd say that the movie is just a pleasure to watch, if you're bored of traditional cinema.
The movie is emotionally appealing on the whole. It portrays the various emotions extremely well, and this reflects how good Mr Ramadoss is at directing the emotions.
At last, i'd say that Aamir gets full marks for his performance, he just lives up the role. This role is somewhat similar to the one in fanaa, except here he's a telecom company's chairman and there he was a terrorist. I'd give the movie a 4 on whole. A must watch for Aamir's fans. He becomes the grand daddy for action roles, move over Shetty, Dutt and Deols.
Hope you people found the same. Do let me know.

Signing off !
