Hello everyone
I understand you all must have felt like i've abandoned the blog. Its not like that. I started working somewhere, and because of this, i've suddenly felt short of time.

But worry not, i shall be starting to post soon. I've got some things up the sleeve, and will be posting them in a week or two.
I just came across a track from Coke Studio Pakistan season 5. have to admit, its one of the best songs i've ever heard. Bohemia collaborates with Chakwal brothers in their folk track 'Kandyaari' . The track is a shining example of how folk and modern music can be fused together.
The track has been playing nonstop since two days now on my PC. Hope the bug catches you too

In January had put up a post mentioning how badly implemented was the
payback loyalty card in India. (For those who missed out on that, http://prattzzstechblog.blogspot.in/2012/01/which-one-to-choose-payback-or-loyalty.html is the link ) Well, the effect is visible now.

Payback has launched a new card - Payback green. Meant to replace pantaloon's loyalty card, this card was introduced to help with customers complaining which card to use. Well its good to see companies caring for customer loyalty.

What can we say, online consumerism does have its advantages. Companies have to acknowledge the customers.
PrattzzHackzzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15559828521234281992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636229607568963092.post-81930499716598362782012-07-07T14:16:00.001+05:302012-07-07T14:31:33.158+05:30Business Model - Paypal

The best way would be to use the personal account. Start with the personal account first. Then when you are well acquainted with the Paypal system, upgrade to the premium accounts.

I had recently applied for Blogadda's book review program. I got selected, and got a compilation of poems - Ah Poetry to review.

Ah Poetry is a collection of poems by a few poetry enthusiasts. They come from all walks and professions, geographical locations , and share the same enthusiasm for creativity. Some of them learning the basics, while some showing their mastery at the discipline.

On opening the package, i first came across a note personally signed by Nirav Sanghvi, CEO of Blogadda. Also i found a bookmark along with the book. Good to see Blogadda working well to build reputation, highly appreciable.
The book was a fun experience to read. Noticed some facts that i never cared about. Found out some really nice words for using in life.

The book is full of poets( 57 poets in total - some really aces at it, while some trying evidently showing their inexperience). The 170 poem collection is exhaustive, and yet gives a unique vision to what occurs in life with us. The first poet that caught my eye was a software engineer Amanpreet Singh (amanamagus.wordpress.com) with "Vacant Horizons". The way he's depicted turbulence in mind, its quite good. I could connect with what he was trying to express, and that made it more worth it.

A retired school teacher, Mr Amiya Chatterjee(flamboyantbeggar.blogspot.com), was a delight to read. I absolutely adored all three creations of his. The way he's played with words does show his mastery at poetry. Its style reminded me of the poetry i used to read in english grammer books in Calcutta during my childhood. Fine english, excellent execution, i was simply bowled over.

Then came a honest confession by Anand Madhukar(a civil servant, fyi). His 'Letter to my father' was a honest apology, that is worth appreciation.

Then there was Kunal Sen(www.kunalsen.in). He showed how a cinematic three-act structure of poetry can be a great entertainment. His localised Bengali romantic poems were a delight to read, not often i get to read such poetry.

Then came a poem from Leenkuna Reddy - a housewife from Mumbai. Initially, i found her creations very common(i've gone through similar execution of the same idea many a times), but then came "Meandering Lines". It's an enactment of a emotional scene. Though the concept is well familiar, the execution was very unique and well narrated. She's shown she can write for bollywood (i'm serious).

Just after Leenkuna was Madhav Bhandarkar(dreamingfingers.wordpress.com) . Though i couldn't get his first creation in the book well, his last creation "Loyal Husband" made up for it(made it up very well). He shows great creativity in depicting the loyalty of a husband for his late wife.

Also i'd like to mention Pratibha Sofat, a software engineer by profession. Her poem "Dreams" was a very honest attempt at poetry.

Well, there are so many of them, that i can keep on writing endlessly on each one of them. But time and space always become a contraint.

The book's a mixed collection of honest attempts by people, who in their life, have jotted down their experiences, their feelings with creativity and honesty. Some do make me feel interrupted from the flow, while others just leave me wanting for more. My rating for the book - 3.5 out of 5. The good part is very good, the not-so good part poems are average. Overall, i can say the book as a mixed collection. Maybe i'll send them my poems for review.

I Googled, and found out that these guys had started a facebook page, viewable at http://www.facebook.com/AhPoetry . Those interested can go there for more.
Recently, i had faced misbehavior at a Reliance store in Ansal Plaza,Greater Noida when i purchased a few items. Instead of change for due due amount, toffee's were distributed, and that too without a bill. The cash counter executive was highly ill behaved, justifying the toffee distribution as 'the whole world accepts these, why not you. You think you're a customer, so you'll own us'. When i asked the store manager to either give me a bill, or give me change for the amount i was due to receive(a single digit amount), he instead challenged me to sue him in the court.

This behavior of his enraged me. I immediately(on reaching home), sent them a mail at the customer services division of Reliance retail, demanding strict action against the responsible employees, and a case in civil, criminal and consumer courts in case they fail to do so within 15 days.

And on the 15th day, i received this mail from Kamadeba.Mohanty@ril.com.
While browsing through the deep web, i came across really unseen tips for interviews. I've nowhere seen such unique tips, and really small details. Infact, i did find some of the mistakes very common.

I just came across this new video. Shot recently, here a hologram of Tupac performs with Snoop Dogg at the Coachella festival. The video just reminded me of the high datys of 2Pac. His legend remains, and this video just proved that. Even after two decades his charm works big.

I guess you'd be mesmerized by the time you're done watching the video, just like i've been.

This soil was the very soil on which the great man's blood fell on when Nathuram Godse assasinated him. The Padmashree awardee has declared, that in case this happens, he shall immediately return the national award given to him as a mark of protest of Indian government's failure in protecting Gandhiji's assets. he beleives that it is crucial for us Indians to maintain the integrity and respect for the father of the nation, and if he cannot be respected, then there is no point in acceptiong respect and recognition. And i firmly believe that Kishoreji is very correct in saying so. Even the west, and its visionaries(like Martin Luther King Jr) believed that Gandhiji was an iconic man , and a man of respect.

This is a matter of shame for the nation. A party that has begged for votes for over half a century doesn't even care for the man who dedicated his life for freedom, who became a visionary and an incon for India and the world. Shame on the UPA government. I guess they'd be busy thinking how to make another scam after one dozen scam exposes in the last 7 years.PrattzzHackzzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15559828521234281992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636229607568963092.post-67584246797139685752012-03-30T10:10:00.004+05:302012-03-30T10:46:41.564+05:30Ah...what days have comeThe recent development in the Indian government vs Indian army chief has become a big shame issue for all of us. The government has really lost its mind these days. Instead of fighting against corruption, or even acting against who're promoting corruption, it is instead trying to put others at blame. And the most shameful thing is that they are indirectly the army chief and relating the matter with his age dispute. Although it acknowledges the complain that General Singh had made with them last year in the vehicle bribe case, it does not give any strong reason as to why they had not investigated into the matter till now. After all, someone has bribed the highest ranking army officer. And the defence minister A.K. Antony has admitted that the General had informed him about this, but he did not take any action.

This is a matter of shame for everyone. The ruling party is alledging the highest ranking Indian army officer who has received medals like PVSM, AVSM and is even acknowledged by the US Army of being a brilliant army officer. Such low has stooped our politicians. Instead of building the nation, the government and the parliment has actually gone ballistic over the chief of army, a man who has risked his life for the nation and who has indebted each of us Indians with his contribution.

Manmohan Singh - he's a complete failure, probably the biggest failure in the history of the nation. This recent episode has proven that for sure.PrattzzHackzzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15559828521234281992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636229607568963092.post-84436680319593058172012-03-25T09:38:00.002+05:302012-03-25T09:42:48.575+05:30How to save a phone when it gets dropped in waterRecently, i dropped my phone in water, and it took me around 20 seconds to get it out. The site is actually a blog by DJ Taj - a San Diego based DJ.

DJ Taj shares music, writes reviews, and has also written for a magazine. The DJ seems a complete music enthusiast as he keeps on sharing music on a regular basis. All new tracks are on this site. Even David Guetta's 'Nothing Like The Beat' was released on this site as early as August 23, while the album was released officially on 26th august.

The reviews on the site are good. DJ Taj does show his in-depth understanding of music, and i personally liked the way he wrote his reviews.

And as for the site, its great. its hosted on Wordpress, and allows embedding music. Coming to think of the experience of going through it, the site seems great.

So in case you're a music enthusiast, this is one site cut out for you.PrattzzHackzzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15559828521234281992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636229607568963092.post-62240915296016541992012-03-20T21:10:00.005+05:302012-03-20T21:26:37.354+05:30Its Official - Sony Ericsson is now Sony
I just received a mail from Sony announcing the takeover of Austrian JV Sony-Ericsson by Sony Inc. Being a native of hauz Khas, i decided to give the area nearby IIT a walk. Having been a resident of the area for so many years now, the place is of a 'motherland' kind of a significance to me.

Anyways, the day was quite hot. A friend was with me. We decided to buy a soft drink to cover up for the heat. I prefered Rainbow's. I had been a patron of Rainbow's since my school days when i used to visit their outlet at kalu Sarai.

I placed the order, and took the delivery. But when i paid, i was astonished that i wasn't returned any amount. Rs 3 was due(i had paid 30 bucks in cash). I asked the billling guy about the balance, he told me that there was a special VAT of 20%. I was shocked. 20% was sheer loot. There's no such government law.

I aske dthe owner nearby about this. He said "Yaha Thanda karne ke paise lagte hai". I was astonished. The owner of an old eatery chain chrging so high and giving such a petty excuse for this. The bottle clearly mentioned the MRP Rs 27, Still he was cheating and was shameless. That actually surprised me. Its a chain, and a catering contractor, who has served contracts for 5 star hotels like Hotel Chanakya. And still he gives such lame excuse. And to top it all, he gave me a wrong bill (where in India does one get a 500ml Pepsi pet).

It is really discouraging. If such chains cheat with the common masses, its their loss, and even if they know, they do it with no shame. So i'd thought i'd share with you all. Here's the summary from it.

Tip 1:
Don't write uninteresting career objectives irrelevant to the internship

Tip 2:
Don't give personal information like gender, father's name, etc that the employer hardly cares about

Tip 3:
Don't put a declaration and signature column at the end

Tip 4:
Don't give references unless someone asks after viewing your CV

The above are the points tha can be summed from reading the article. You can read the original article for a better understanding of the tips.

The whole article can be read at http://blog.internshala.com/2011/02/how-not-to-write-a-cv-1/PrattzzHackzzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15559828521234281992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636229607568963092.post-17121756712939206522012-03-08T16:46:00.004+05:302012-03-08T17:11:24.300+05:30HTC G1 still exists, and is on Sale in India !
I was going through the net when i came across a link that was selling a phone. Opening it gave a big surprise.

The phone on sale was Google's legendary HTC G1 - The very first Android handset on the planet. Long before anybody had even thought of Samsung Galaxy's came the phone from the search Giant. It was this phone that changed the way smart phones existed, and hit Nokia's domination in the cellular phone market badly. This phone was available especially on T-Mobile.

It was taken all by shock on seeing this. Frankly speaking, i didn't believe that i had actually come across this. The pricing for the phone is quite high(considering there are better phones in this range), but then, this phone is part of history. Any technoholic would remember this as the point of beginning of a whole new era.

I still remember when i had first touched this phone. It was a very bulky phone. With its bent design, it was one of a kind phone back then. And people who don't know when this phone released, letme just tell you this phone had released somewhere around 2008. Back then, this was the peak of cutting edge technology.

The listing is viewable at http://www.naaptol.com/price/20671-HTC-G1-3G-Android-Mobile.html?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=Naaptol&utm_campaign=HTC-G1. This actually comes as a surprise. Pople were expecting LTE enabled cellphone, but here apple unveils a LTE enabled tabled(probably the first one of its class). This comes as a highly smart marketing move.

CNN calls it the end of 3g pads. But lets come to reality. LTE eployment is rare on the planet. Everyone uses 3G. And the biggest 4G deployer Vodafone is not on Apple's partner list.

Plus high price would be an issue. I personally feel iPad 4G would be a very highly priced product(reports say its around $500 range though i personally think it should touch the $700 mark) considering its the very first of its kind, the Apple label, and the time frame. And people would not love to pay that much.

PS; for more detailed release info on iPad 4G, visit http://money.cnn.com/2012/03/07/technology/ipad-4g/PrattzzHackzzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15559828521234281992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636229607568963092.post-89884175345936842752012-03-06T20:25:00.006+05:302012-03-07T13:31:42.292+05:30The Internet changes on 6th June, 2012
And history is all set to be rewritten on 6th june 2012. Yes.

It has been finalised that many major ISP's, home networking equipment manufacturers, and web companies around the world are coming together to permanently enable IPv6 for their products and services on 6 June 2012. This would be the beginning of a new era for Internet and computing.

The event is sponsored by giants like Google, Facebook, Yahoo, AT&T, Time Warner, Cisco, D-Link and Bing. All of them are going to complete their shifting from the traditionally used IPv4 to IPv6. Shifting to IPv6 will reduce server overheads of NAT(Network Address Translation) table, hence increase performance and efficiency.

This is the biggest change some of us will be seeing in Internet computing in our lives(and still probably the biggest, Apple's ecosystem doesn't affect everyone, but the Internet does). How will IPv6 be implemented in India will be a question that time will tell.

Want more info on this. I met a lot of new interesting people from different walks of life, and learnt a lot from their experiences.

I shall be posting them soon. The place, best known as Delhi Transport and Tourism Development Corporation's public-private partnership catering, has been an old favourite with my family. Just last week, i came to know that even my grandfather loved this place.

Earlier, this coffee home was not much popular, since the legendary Indian Coffee House was just opposite to it, but post ICS's shutdown speculations in 2009, it has started receiving retired patrons who did not want to see the historical ICH shut down one day. The place is not a glamorous place like Starbucks, but an indigenous coffee outlet. You can actually feel the simplicity and quality in that place. I must mention - the place is a self-service outlet. So don't expect a five star treatment(or five star prices for the matter).

Anyhow, i looked at the menu. There were quite some things, including a burger and uttapam. I decided to go for the safest bet - the Masala Dosa. Took the token, gave the billing person two hundred rupee notes, and got back 65 bucks in change. Then i went to the delivery counter, and showed my token slip. The attendant looked at the token, tore it a little bit(thats the cut you see in the photo), and gave it back. Within 10 minutes, the order was with me. I took it, and went to the table where others were waiting.

And i must say - the food was good. I've had Dosa's in all parts of the nation - punjab, rajasthan, chennai, port blair, delhi, calcutta(or kolkata they'd say now), bangalore , hyderabad and mysore. But this was the first time i could sense all the flavours in one plate. The sambhar was neither too sour, nor too chilly, and had the perfect flavour. Same was the main dosa which was good enough even for a Punjabi(for those who don't know, Punjabi's and people like me have a good appetite, and thin coat dosa's leave us with space for more). The quality of rice used for making the dosa was brilliant, which i still haven't seen in many popular chains like Sagar Ratna or Sravana Bhawan.

Anyhow, the food was highly standardised, and though some people would not find it accoording to their traditional taste(for say, Sambhar in Rajasthan has a lot of Chilli usually, in Chennai is quite sour, in punjab its more thick), i consider it a complete Indian meal - a meal any Indian could eat when he's hungry. Its a meal for the hungry, not a sample for the taste critics. The place is more like a canteen in a government PSU, nothing big about it but still there's something different.

I personally found the place highly satisfying. I still remember, ten years back when i had visited there, the place was jam packed, and people were standing. I was a kid then, and my parents had to wait for sometime before their coffee was served. The new coffee chains might have pulled up the youth, but for some they are a part of their culture. Chains may come and go, but the culture remains there forever...PrattzzHackzzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15559828521234281992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636229607568963092.post-44253737106900192312012-02-29T12:36:00.004+05:302012-02-29T13:30:27.292+05:30Pirate Bay marks End of an Era, or maybe the beginning of a new OneI waas going through the net, while i came across the news of Pirate Bay changing its terms of operation. The pirate bay announced that it will no longer host .torrent files, and will provide magnet links.

This comes as a big blow to hardcore Pirate Bay fans(like me). We don't know how will the performance change. Till now, pirate bay had been the one stop place to get the most active torrents. After this, i do expect sites like Demonoid to grow.

Though i personally have a feeling that The Pirate Bay will initially fall a drop, and then bounce back strong. Back in 2009, it had faced a takeover which had initially shaken its users trust, but then regained. Such a movie cannot suddenly topple the giant which has been on multiple government radars for quite sometime.

The announcement can be seem at http://thepiratebay.se/blog/208PrattzzHackzzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15559828521234281992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636229607568963092.post-81660823187398344672012-02-28T10:29:00.006+05:302012-02-29T13:23:52.420+05:30Product Review - Nutrifit by Mother Dairy<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjalkoCoznMmvN-qPJq9zGkAKF3-tat8H8DX5uEuL_YI5PdiIpTq2SV1_IlZy52kB1zyvQn3sLwI2WOLip6_hWCITuQFYZk-ZJ4HqRsshf-nOikSRxQ3G1ZWgbSfb7WJMC-trr_eyAO_sOR/s320/Image0002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5714052038653111842" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzYFpiqof0tH6WEsZUSUh48jxcnF_VjZgt-BaP7BtB-cAsdXt7GDpIVLPBu22JLJCZLdHY3ZJtcpGJ90Ehr3edTgOEs9YnIKjAhK1R59keGXgwjC2KuyZ2Qbkr2cPVcdZjHzJxv14rxHGD/s320/Image0001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5714052042305513810" />
Well, another one of the products i came across in the market was this one. A probiotic drink by Mother Dairy called Nutrifit. I was with someone else, and was suggested to try this out. So i did.

Nutrifit comes in a small long bottle(the shape quite similar to a flask). Nice labelling makes it a well-designed product.

Nutrifit was launched some years back, and comes in direct competition with Yakult. Aimed for kids, the drink is surprisingly consumed by adults too.

The drink is what we'd say 'dahi' in India(curd in English). It comes in two flavours - Strawberry and Mango. I tried strawberry, and its good. Its very sweet, so people with a sweet tooth will like it.

Anyways, i consumed it in the peak winter season, and i consumed Dahi everyday, but i caught cough the very next day i consumed Nutrifit, mainly because its kept in refrigerators and was chilled. So i'd rather suggest that if you have an average immunity against cold/cough, then you should consume it. For people like me, who are highly prone to them should consume it only in summers. Summers is when most of the people fall to cold/cough. Also, don't consume it in winters, especially in the evening. Thats when infection spreads easily.

Nutrifit is manufactured in the same plant(Pilkhuwa Dairy,UP) from where Mother Dairy has been producing its fermented products for years now. So i suppose its going to have high standards for manufacturing. Being a fermented product, we should be careful about the fermentation levels.

Mother Dairy being a government organisation, is highly trusted. I'd rather suggest Nutrifit instead of Yakult (inspite of the latter being the world leader in probiotic drink). The government does keep a certain standard for their products and do not care about the market dynamics.PrattzzHackzzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15559828521234281992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3636229607568963092.post-33384840632430427512012-02-28T09:39:00.002+05:302012-02-28T09:51:13.931+05:30IETF comes up with new Fellowship vacanciesI just came across the announcement of IETF taking in new fellows for IETF 84(Vancouver, Canada) and 85(Atlanta, GA).

IETF - the organisation that developed the internet, brings you to come and join their esteemed organisation as a registered fellow.
