India Today's college review gets messed up, Considers DCE's and NSIT's admission process seperate

Although NSIT is in top 20, here is proof the rankings are inaccurate and at-best cooked up.

EXTRACTS FROM THE INDIA TODAY MAGAZINE

Individual Admission Process -
DCE Rank - 19
NSIT Rank - 24

NSIT and DCE have exactly the same admission process, and toppers choose NSIT over DCE every year.

Curriculum

NSIT Rank 23
DCE Rank 10

LOL, both NSIT and DCE follow same syllabus and curriculum prescribed by the Delhi University, not even a single molecule is different :P , the end semester exam is also same.

Just tells you that people hear DCE's name and assume its good, while NSIT which is much better and attracts the cream of Delhi does not get good ranks just because its not old enough or famous enough.

Looks like Mr Suri's team has gone old and isn't updated with the present!!!
Even till now, it's row with BITS, Pilani which had started last year hasn't ended and now the magazines show some classic examples of ignorant and clumsy reporting.

Mr Suri, do me a favour and bring some new staff, will you !!!

All IITs do admission by the same famous IIT JEE (where Kota Coaching has a patent for quota..)and this great survey says Admission procedure was IIT K is 1, IIT D is 3, IIT C is 2, IIT M is 4, IIT KGP is 5, IIT Roorkee is 7, IIT Guwahati is 6. If people who know how to sing songs like EK Do Teen end up doing surveys, you can expect them to do nothing better. If this is the state of affairs of India Today, then God bless the future of India who will do their studies based on these half baked surveys by unbaked surveyors. Its good that institutions like Birla Institute of Technology and Science BITS Pilani decided to keep away from this survey. In fact in year 2004, the entire country knew that BITS Pilani was doing admissions by normalized percentage of marks and not by an entrance examination. Only this reputed magazine called India Today did not know that and went about publishing it in its survey in 2004.

Very right my friend. But for IIT's they have different procedures as each IIT has a different no. of applicants for the same course(and DCE & NSIT do offer the same courses)!!!

Thanks 4 your comments !!!!!

Please write your name at the end of the comemnt so that i get 2 know who'se writing his precious words !!!!

Does number of applications decide the admission procedure? Its simple and clear that when all IITs do by JEE, their admission procedure cannot have different ratings

Yes, it does, and it does very much. India Today has categorised all thye IIT's admission procedure because people are given the option to join the similar courses at the various IIT's[Luckily DCE has eradicated this problem for CEE as the courses in NSIT are not available in DCE's Bawana campus].

In IIT-JEE, for the same rank, you might be given the same course at different IIT's. It's then the geographical factor which comes into play for the number of applicants(eg,suppose if a student from punjab gets something around 1800, he'll be given Civil Engineering in all the IIT's. He'll prefer IIT Delhi as Delhi is a bit similar to punjab) !!!!

Most of the selected students select IIT,Delhi as the Delhi atmosphere suits them the best. So there are more number of applicants for the same course in IIT,Delhi than IIT,Guwahati.

I suppose that clears your IIT problem.

India Today should have jolly well called it admission preferences instead of Admission Procedure. If it was called admission preference even a lay man would have done the rating. The issue why it is called admission procedure for rating?

The term "admission procedure" doesn't make any sense for anyone who knows what's NSIT and DCE.

The India Today group does wierd stuff(and so do they act when contacted) for the reasons best known to them !
