Wall Painting Tips

Here are a few tips i found in the local newspaper on how to paint a textured wall. Thought it might be useful for you people out there. Here they are

1. Choose the right kind of paint
A semi gloss paint gives you better coverage as does not get absorbed easily as compared to flat paint. Semi gloss paint is also easier to clean.

2. Protect
Starters must test colours by painting a patch on the wall and observe in different lights to get an idea of the final look. Tape off any surface you want to protect. Save your floor area with a drop cloth. Keep a ladder in handy to reach hard places.

3. Right Tool
Buy a regular paint blust to cut into the edges of the texture, wiggle to get into all nook and crannies.

4. Know the technique
Use a wall brush in an X pattern or diagonal back and forth motion over the surface to give great coverage. Diagonal strokes get into the crevices and create a random pattern that will better hide the brush strokes. You may also use a roller but they aren't the best option for a textured wall.

5. Show patience
Wait for the paint to dry and then look from a distance for the areas that are thin or have been missed completely. Apply a second coat there.

Volkswagen comes up with new Jetta, amazes experts

Volkswagen recently unveiled its all new Jetta. But the new Jetta's first glimpse doesn't resemble anything attached with the Jetta name. This new Jetta happens to be a completely new car.

When it comes to looks, this new Jetta seems to be a reduced version of Passat. The car has been lowered and widened by the VW engineers. Now this makes the car more like an upmarket saloon rather than a quick and easy snipe. There are long flowing lines along the flanks, a confident stance, and a crisply folded shoulderline for higher definition, and wide wheel arches for a great strong stance. The best part of the looks is the nose, especially the sharp bonnet, typical black VW grille and detailed headlamps. On the whole, it wouldnt be wrong to say that the car seems to be taking inspiration from the Golf.

On the interiors front, there's good news. Wider wheelbase means more space for the passengers. Thats a different thing that the interiors are as dynamic as the exteriors. The interiors dont get you excited for anything, but dont disappoint either. I'd say something similar for the steering wheel, the doorpad, and for the air cooling vents. They're good, luxurious, greatly build and amazing functionality, and seem to last as well. The rear seats have great legspace and seat comfort. Six airbags, dual tone interiors, large front seats, chrome headlights work good for the cabin section.

For the US, the company plans to launch a 115bhp 2litre petrol engine. The expected US prices are $16,000 , which shouldnt be there in India. The one expected to hit India should have a 140bhp,2litre TDI engine , which might range upto 175bhp five cylinder 2l petrol and a 200bhp TSi engine. The TSi engine is more prominent to be launched in India as the engineers at VW hinted.

In short, the new Jetta happens to be a lot more than what the old Jetta was. Its got a more expensive look, would be a leader in its category, with great built and fantastic equipments. If you have to buy a new sedan in around a year, just extend the waiting period to a year and a half, because its expected to hit shelves by then, and its worth the wait.

Here are some technical specifications(known till now)

Length: 4640 mm
Width: 1540 mm
Height: 1780 mm
Wheelbase: 2648 mm
Power: 140/175/200bhp
Torque: 32.6kgm(for the 140bhp variant)
Gearbox: 6 speed DSG(for the 140bhp variant)/6Speed DS(for the 200bhp variant)
Engine: 4cylinders-inline, 2.0l common rail direct injecton diesel/5cylinder in-line,2.5litre petrol/4cylinders- inline,2.0litre turbo-petrol

The frustration of a tv viewer

After hearing a lot about a show from my female pals,i decided to check out a show. The show is pathetic when i saw it. The show is Uttaran on Colors.

A show full of misdirection and cheap melodrama, all aimed at TRP's. Literally a waste of time. And females, they love this show. Good god, give me a break. And this show has the highest TRP's in the latest released television ratings.

I seriously wonder what compells producers and channels to produce and host such stupid shows. And people love this nonsense. Has the world gone insane. What pleasure do the have in watching such time wasting material. Even a quarter of the show's budget can be used to help to aid thousands of familes. And you're wasting it on some nonsense which'll continue till nobody on the planet would be interested to see.

Things people do these days...terrible

Samsung Sucks

I had called up Samsung for wet service for my airconditioner on the 9th. I also had to get a part - the ventilation housing to be replaced. But when they replaced the housing, they damaged the airconditioner's SMPS too, and at the end, the work which they had committed 300 bucks, ended up costing me Rs1000, and that too without a bill(billing the services would charge me 250 bucks more). Earlier, when i called their executives in February, they guy had misbehaved, even tried to bully.

Samsung, i seriously mean you're organisation is pathetic

Movie Review - The Ugly Truth

So i got to see the Gerald Butler Katherine Heigl starrer 'The Ugly Truth'. It had been a talked about movie at the time of its release, so i decided to give it a try. And seems like people at IMDB were quite correct in their predictions.

The Plot:

The movie's set in Sacromento,California. Abby is a producer in a network channel, and is hopelessly desperate for a guy who fits in her checklist. Her show has terrible ratings, and the management brings in a dirty talking relationship advising host Mike Chadway which Abby simply cant stand a second. She comes across her perfect guy who happens to be a doctor.During an argument, Chad makes a deal that he'll quit if his advices dont help Abby out in getting the doctor. A series of events go on, and she eventually gets the guy.

But meanwhile in the process, she gets attracted to Mike, and its same the other way round at Mike's side. But before Mike could say anything, the doctor comes to Abby's place. This leaves Mike heartbroken. He quits the channel, and joins a rival channel. But while watching the old channel's show which he used to host, he gets frustrated at the things Abby says while hosting the show, goes to the show's outbound set, and joins it. By mistake, both Abby and Mike get stuck in a hot air baloon, where Mike pours his heart out. They patch up. The End

Final verdict:
The movie is okay, nothing excellent. Katherine has done a wonderful job in playing the irritating producer, so has Gerald in Mike Chadway's role. The story isn't pretty strong, which basically weakens the film backbone. There are a few directorial loops that one can get once he's done watching the movie.

The music is good. Flo Rida's 'Right round' yet again ends a movie after the insanely hillarious 'The Hangover'.

Overall, the movie is great for pasttime. Though if you watch the whole movie twice, you'll be not wishing to watch it more.

For everything, i'd give it 2.5 out of 5.

Movbie Review - The Last Airbender

Yesterday i caught up on the M. Night Shyamalan's new production The Last Airbender. The movie stars Dev Patel as the fire lord's son.

The Plot:
The movie's story is based on the 1st part of the 'Avatar - The Last Airbender' series. The world's divided into four kingdoms - Fire,Earth,Air and Water kingdoms. The Avatar is the master of the four arts, and happens to communicate with the spritual world to maintain balance. But suddenly, the avatar disappears, and the fire kingdom uses this opportunity to expand its kingdom in all wrong ways.

After a century, avatar appears. But its quite late now. Everyone from his airbending monk tribe has been killed by the fire kingdom. He is rescued by two water kingdom kids Kitara and her brother. He eventually finds out that he's the last of his tribe. But he gets caught by the Fire King's expelled son, but somehow manages to escape with the help of Kitara and her brother. This follows a series of fights with the fire kingdom based warriors. He later goes to the northern water kingdom where he faces the biggest battle till now. In the end, he finally gets rid of the fire kingdom, but in the process, the princess of the water kingdom dies.

Final Take:
The movie s good. Yes, there are some misdirections. The pre-attack body movements are just too long, loads of time wasted in it. The acting's also too weak by some actors. Yes, the direction has been tried to the best level, but though there's still some thngs missing. Probably the final editing hasn't been done well. Yes, its okay, but you wont miss out on anything if you dont watch it,dont be in grief if you missed it.

Considering everything,i'd give it 3 out of 5.

What about you, do you find the movie same??
